The Sonntag Grant

Sonntag are interested in different types of photography that explore how the world is shaped, whether through the lens of politics, sociology, anthropology, or the built environment. This might mean looking at cities, public spaces, institutions, private routines or cultural patterns – though they’re equally open to unexpected perspectives, personal stories or anything you’d like to show. Projects can be documentary, staged, experimental, or somewhere in between and we’re happy to support new or ongoing work. We care less about form and more about clarity of thought and perspective.

Each year, one artist is awarded €3,000 to develop a project. The focus is on giving time, support, and space to pursue new or ongoing work. The grant aims to give visibility to artists who reflect on the world in thoughtful, critical, or imaginative ways. No expectations of finished work. Just the possibility of time, space, and focus.
