Rory Peck Award
Overview
The Rory Peck Awards, established in 1995, honor the work of freelance journalists and filmmakers who risk their lives to report on global events. Named after freelance cameraman Rory Peck, who was killed in 1993, the awards recognize the courage, initiative, and journalistic integrity of freelancers working in news and current affairs. The Rory Peck Trust, which organizes the awards, is dedicated to supporting freelance journalists worldwide, providing assistance in times of crisis and promoting their safety and welfare.
Reward
The Rory Peck Awards consist of several categories, including the Rory Peck Award for News, the Rory Peck Award for Features, and the Sony Impact Award for Current Affairs. Entries must have been first broadcast or published between 5 July 2024 and 31 July 2025. Each entry requires a separate submission and entry fee.
Eligibility
The awards are open to freelance cameramen and women worldwide. Entries must have been first broadcast or published between 5 July 2024 and 31 July 2025. Works not in English must be accompanied by a detailed storyline and translation.
