The Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award, facilitated by FotoDocument and supported by Nikon, is an annual grant established to support professional female photographers in completing compelling and cohesive documentary photo essays. Now in its 9th year, the award focuses on projects addressing significant social, environmental, economic, or cultural issues, whether local or global. It aims to highlight under-reported stories and showcase positive solutions through practical engagement on the ground. The award was launched on International Women's Day, March 8, 2025.
The recipient will receive a £3,000 grant to support the completion of their documentary photo essay. The award is intended for projects that are already in progress and demonstrate a commitment to making the world a better place.
Open to professional female photographers of any nationality, aged 18 and over, at any stage of their careers (emerging, mid-career, or established). Applicants must have already started the photo essay for which they are seeking funding and be able to show work in progress. Additionally, they must have completed at least one other documentary photo essay to demonstrate their track record.
