The Diane Dammeyer Fellowship in Photographic Arts and Social Issues provides a unique opportunity for a socially engaged photographer to produce a compelling and dynamic body of work that highlights human rights and social issues.
The fellowship offers a $20,000 artist stipend, a $2,000 travel stipend, and $2,000 toward exhibition production. Fellows gain access to Columbia College Chicago's School of Visual Arts facilities and workspace. The program involves a collaborative project with a Chicago-based community partner, culminating in a public presentation or exhibition. Fellows are expected to dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to the fellowship, dividing time between the community partner and Columbia College Chicago
Applicants must have completed an MFA or possess equivalent experience in photography or a related field. The fellowship is open to international applicants, though they are responsible for arranging their own visas and accommodations. Candidates should not be enrolled in any full-time or part-time academic program during the fellowship period. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in community-based settings and communicate effectively with faculty, students, and community partners.
